Welcome to PyKids! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PyKids website located at learnpykids.com. By accessing or using PyKids, you (the parent or guardian) agree to be bound by these Terms on behalf of yourself and your child.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not allow your child to use PyKids.

2. 🐍 About PyKids — A Children's Educational Service

PyKids is an educational platform for children. Our service includes:

• Interactive Python coding lessons (ages 8–14)
• A live code playground where children can write and run Python
• Quizzes, badges, and learning achievements
• Pixel, our AI-powered coding helper and chatbot
• Optional paid subscription for premium features

PyKids is not intended for adults as a primary audience. Any adult using this service should be a parent, guardian, or educator supervising a child's use of the platform.

3. 👨‍👩‍👧 Accounts & Parental Consent

Children may browse and use free features of PyKids without creating an account. To save progress, earn badges, or access premium features, an account is required.

For children under 13:

• A parent or guardian must provide verifiable consent during account registration
• We will send a confirmation email to the parent's email address to verify consent before activating the account
• The parent or guardian is responsible for all activity on the child's account
• Parents may request deletion of their child's account at any time

For users 13 and older:

• Users aged 13+ may register directly, though parental guidance is encouraged
• Users must provide a valid email address
• Accounts must not be shared between multiple users

4. 📢 Advertising Policy — No Behavioral Targeting

PyKids displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Because this is a child-directed website, we are committed to the following advertising standards:

• 🚫 No behavioral advertising — we do not allow ads that track children's behavior or build user profiles
• 🚫 No retargeting — children are not followed across the web by advertisers
• ✅ Contextual-only ads — any ads shown are based on the page's educational content, not on personal user data
• ✅ All Google AdSense ads are configured with tag_for_child_directed_treatment: 1 and requestNonPersonalizedAds: 1

Parents may use an ad blocker — we will not restrict access to content if advertising is blocked.

5. 📋 Data We Collect — Minimization Commitment

We are committed to collecting only the data necessary to provide our educational service. We will never ask children to share more information than is needed.

We do not collect:

• Full legal names (only a display name/username)
• Home addresses or phone numbers
• School names or student IDs
• Social media profiles or third-party account data
• Photos, videos, or voice recordings

6. 📏 Acceptable Use

PyKids is a safe, friendly space for learning. By using PyKids, you agree that your child will:

• ✅ Use the platform for educational purposes
• ✅ Treat others with respect
• ✅ Use their own or their parent's correct email address
• 🚫 Not attempt to hack, overwhelm, or disrupt the service
• 🚫 Not share their account password with others
• 🚫 Not write or submit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate code in the playground
• 🚫 Not impersonate another person or create fake accounts
• 🚫 Not attempt to access other users' data or accounts

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. 💳 Subscriptions & Payments

PyKids offers optional paid subscription plans for premium features. All payments are processed securely by Stripe — we never store credit card information.

• Subscriptions must be purchased by an adult (parent or guardian) — not by the child
• Subscription fees are charged at the frequency shown at the time of purchase (monthly or annual)
• You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
• 🚫 All sales are final — no refunds on digital subscription purchases. Because a free plan is available to try first, refunds are not offered once a subscription is activated.
• In the case of a billing error or duplicate charge, contact [email protected] and we will resolve it promptly.

8. 🎓 Intellectual Property

All content on PyKids — including lesson text, graphics, the Pixel chatbot, quiz questions, badge designs, and code — is owned by PyKids and protected by copyright.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use PyKids content for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our lessons or materials without permission
• Use our content for commercial purposes
• Remove copyright or attribution notices

Code that children write in the playground belongs to them (or their parent/guardian). We do not claim ownership of user-created code.

9. ⚠️ Disclaimer of Warranties

PyKids is provided "as is" for educational purposes. While we work hard to maintain accuracy and availability, we do not guarantee that:

• The service will be available 100% of the time
• All lesson content is free from errors
• The service will meet every individual learning goal

PyKids is not a substitute for formal school education. It is a supplemental learning tool.

10. 📝 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of PyKids after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. For significant changes, we will notify registered parents/guardians via email.
